She was the dark
The pain filled place in my heart
And they tell me she never existed

The hits were real and I still feel
Her hand on my cheek

They say the first cut hurts the deepest
But its the subsequent ones that leave the scars

She spun in circles and we danced
with the wooden paddle in her hands
She pulled me down to the ground
And I heard myself crying
In my heart I was stuck between living and dying

She was a martyr, that's what she said
And whispered at night she'd be better off dead

But it never did happen though the rules never changed
Sit still and be quiet, be calm and contained

So she sat in the corners and she shook and she yearned
For someone to give her what she never deserved
She wanted someone to listen and someone to say
It all really happened, she didn't dream it that way
Full title: If there was blood on that carpet, you never would have seen

True story you know. My dad said something that upset me very deeply in regards to all this and it made everything come rushing back very badly

I was told by someone on another site I posted this on that the line "They say the first cut hurts the deepest but its the subsequent ones that leave the scars" was their favourite...its mine too. It was the hardest to write

Wow.... I would say that's my favourite line, too.
